why i write for goth grrrl: i am so tired of being asked if i'm "with them" when we wouldn't have been on the bill without me. i've experienced the cruel and blatant sexism in the local scene (that everybody forgets to mention) and after several unforgettable instances, i decided instead of pushing it off i would write about it here. what you may recognize me from: writer/photographer for melted magazine. former singer/guitarist for sunlaand. top rank in dig dug. former editor in chief of the cspress.
Hey. Thanks for reading Goth Grrrl. As both a musician and a writer, after one show in particular when I experienced the cruel and blatant sexism that lies within every local music scene, I did not want to push my experiences aside, and instead, decided to create a platform for other females to share their experiences. Although our main focus is around females in the industry, we also seek to spotlight underground musicians and artists, with an emphasis in the local scene. So many local bands are pushed aside and go unnoticed just because they do not know the right people. We want to give these bands a means to get the music they work so fucking hard on the attention they deserve. Thank you endlessly for supporting your local goth girls.
